Welcome to my Social Media for Author Tip Series, where I offer you tips to put into practice the your social media tips so that you can:

  • Connect with your readers and get to know them
  • Let them get to know you
  • Build your network
  • Create your author platform

And so you can sell more books!

Social media is: blogging, Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, MySpace, other specialized online networks like yahoo groups, YouTube, etc.

Today’s Tip #9: Have Fun!

Authors, writers, if you’re not having fun, why use social media? But don’t let the learning curve get in your way. Not knowing how to do something is no excuse!

So dive into Twitter or Facebook or making video or podcasting. You’ll find out which one you like by trying it, by yes actually doing it!

Check out these resources: other posts I wrote.

If you need hand holding while you take steps into social media, look for an upcoming course at We Write Books Community.

Get chatty with your readers. Talk to them about what they love! Which is probably the themes in your book!

Get creative and write a bio on Twitter that rocks!

Fall in love with Twitter.

Or maybe Facebook.

The point is: play!

*Update:

I’m doing a countdown for my 10 Social Media Tips for Authors. Previous posts in the series:
