Write a Sh*^@tty First Draft Fast
September 15th, 2008 | by Beth Barany
The best and quickest way to start writing is to give yourself permission to write a shitty first draft. This great piece of advice was garnered from Anne Lamott’s book on writing and the writing life, Bird by Bird. So you want to write that article, blog post, or chapter?
First, give yourself permission to write poorly. Permission: The easiest way to begin is to set the timer for 20 minutes and dive in. If you have to write with one hand holding your nose, then so be it.
Happy Writing!
